Walton Allotment Gardens Association
a.k.a Seeds Lane Allotments
Seeds Lane Allotments are based in Fazakerley, Liverpool.
We've been around since before 1900, and may be the oldest surviving allotment site in Liverpool. You can view our Constitution by clicking on the button at the bottom of this page.
You can contact us by sending an email to seedslaneallotments@gmail.com
In the past the predominant role of allotments was to provide land for local people to grow inexpensive fresh fruit and vegetables. Although this is still an important role particularly in urban areas, allotments are increasingly fulfilling a wider role in the community particularly with regard to health, recreation and social opportunities.
If you think you'd enjoy working an allotment, and if you think you would like to join our organisation and become a plot holder at Seeds Lane allotments, send an email and get in touch with our Secretary who will arrange for you to visit, have a chat, and take a look around our allotment site.
If you then decide you would like to rent an allotment and we have one available then you're in the allotment business, if an allotment is not available you just fill in a form and we'll put you on our waiting list.
At time of writing, April 2018, the cost of an allotment per year at Seeds Lane allotments (W.A.G.A.) is:
£47 Rent to Liverpool City Council (50% concession for over 60's)
£22 Membership subscription to W.A.G.A.
£10 Associate membership subscription to W.A.G.A.
£50 Key deposit, one time payment refundable upon return of gate key.
In contrast to Knowsley and Sefton Borough Councils who operate a closed boundary policy, Liverpool operates an open boundary policy, residents of Knowsley and Sefton are therefore welcome.
